Miscellaneous Albemarle County, Virginia, documents [manuscript], 1794-1965.

Most of the collection concerns St. Anne's School and University Country Day School/ Belfield School. St. Anne's material, 1958-1965, includes photographs of printed photographs of the old Baptist, later Rawlings Institute and the Midway School. In addition there are mimeographed notices to parents regarding clothing and personal belongings, reading list, financial statement, fees, discipline, a new headmistress, grades, calendar, and advice on college choices. there is also an issue of the Greenway Grapevine, and a newspaper article, 1965. Country Day/Belfield material, 1955-1963, includes rate comparisons, school merger letters and information, applicant mailing list, calendars, enrollees, financial statements, notices, staff lists, pay increase proposal, and building committee report. The collection also contains a land grant signed by Gov. James Wood, 1798 September 7; a land grant signed by James Monroe, 1800 May 26; attorneys' rules for fees, Nottoway Bar, 1820 March 3, signed by 10 members; a W. M. Roads carte-de-visite of the University from the 1856 Bohn lithograph; a letter from George C. Gilmer to John Morris, 1871 December 3, regretting his failure to call and reminiscing over better times iin the past; a postcard of the Charlottesville, Va. Country Club and Swimming Pool; photographs of the Rotunda, Castle Hill, Midway School, and the Rawlings Institute for Girls (later St. anne's)' and a photograph of an engraving of Morea; and, an incomplete daybook from Albemarle Mills, 1831-1832 containing accounts with Isaac A. Coles, Martin Dawson, and George Gilmer among others.
